A Compendium of Truths and Knowledge

It would be interesting to find out what your experiences in aquaria has led you to believe are undeniable truths and principles. Please list as you wish, humor encouraged.
My limited experience has only yielded these two so far:
1) A biotope will seek balance, but not always the balance you want
2) The definitive answer to most, if not all questions on how to correct a problem is "it depends".

No matter how badly you want your cycle to be "done", the truth is a tank is never done cycling.
The answer to any question on how to get rid of some type of algae is always to reduce nutrients.
SPS coral do and do need to eat.

Water will always be spilled during a water change when you're expecting company in 20 minutes.
No matter how big your tank is, there is always some cool fish out there that grows too big for yours.
Fish nip at corals, learn to deal with it.
Your favorite frag of SPS will fall somewhere in your rock work that you can't reach without taking apart half your reef, soaking half your living room floor and hearing a screaming wife in the background. This becomes even more true when it's an ORA 1" piece that your wife just paid $75+ for you to have, LOL (yup, husband does it all the time)
Anemones host clownfish, clownfish do not host anemones. (that's for you Joe)
There are no two tanks that are the same. Just doesn't happen. Period.
This hobby is not for the weak of heart or wallet.

I will never use liverock again, its pretty annoying to dealing with aquarium pests and unwanted algae like bryopsis. All tanks I have will start with nothing but marco rock and dead sand.
If you want to keep fairy and flasher wrasses, build a net top.

When attempting to change parameters, take ONE STEP at a time! Monitor, then reassess.

Coralline algae will usually grow where you don't want it to and occasionally where you do want it to.

There like a tater chip (southern term) you can't stop at one! It starts with a 1 tank to get a taste, then you find out you like them. Befor you know it you done have eat half the bag(4 tanks 2 55gal).
Then you hit the bottom of the bag, Now you want more chips (tanks). Let's go get a bigger bag(tank like a 200gal). Now all you want to do is sit at home watch your fish and eat tater chips.
