Is it a pink filter feeding cucumber? The one that's 24.99? I have that one and it is reef safe. I've had it for 6 months. It just sticks on the glass. It has only moved once since I got it.

Both of those are capable of poisoning a tank without proper care.
Alyssia, you seem to have good luck with those things

The cucumber you have is reef safe, but some notes need to be made. It is a filter feeder, so it will need heavy doses of phyto/zooplankton every day. If you notice it shrinking in size, this is probably due to starvation.
Make sure you have all of your intakes covered with netting or something similar. If the cucumber gets sucked in it will poison your entire tank. This is also true if you handle it too much/too roughly or something attacks it. Filter feeding cukes are very poisonous and tend to expel their innards more often than then sand sifting ones.
If you are careful, this will be a beautiful addition to your tank.
ps-never try to move your cuke if it is attached to something.

They are capable of poisoning your tank, as Happy Vac stated. I was told on here though that if they die from starvation the toxins they will release will be minimal. If they get bitten by a fish that could scare them into releasing toxins. So far I've been lucky. I just hope my luck holds out...

I looked into buying a cowfish and did a lot of research on them. I don't really remember if they are reef safe, but the same toxin thing goes for it. I just don't feel comfortable putting a cowfish in a reef with possibly thousands of dollars worth of corals and livestock in it and risking it killing it all off when it dies.
It's always a punch in the gut when a fish dies in your tank, but it would be a kick in the balls to have it wipe out everything else with it.
I'd suggest just staying away from them.
