I just lost my Coarl Beauty today;noticed the last few days that he would not eat and hid quite often(nobody was picking on him, been tank mates for over 2 months)checked everything PH-8.2,Ammonia-0,Nitrites-0,Nitrates-0 and KH-9. Everybody else acts find and always did. Any suggestions as to why and do I need to worry about anything else? PS tank running over a year TIA  <img src="graemlins//confused.gif" border="0" alt="[confused]" />

Sorry for your loss - it's always sad when a fish dies.
What else do you keep in the tank ?
Circulation ?
Filtration ?
Did you add anything to the tank recently ?
Make any changes to your maintenance or add any new additives ?

IT WOULD STILL BE EASIER TO SEE IF IT WERE IN THE POST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
AND THAT DOES NOT ALWAYS MEAN IT IS THAT TANK, SOME DON'T UPDATE THEIR PROFILES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
AND I DID, BUT PAST BLUNDERS KEEPS ME FROM ASSUMING!!!!!!!!!!
with all that said, i did see he/she has a 75 listed, no need to yell, i have erred before by assuming this and since i was going to ask the age of the tank and such anyway, i did not figure it hurts to ask to be sure, did you?

koran angel--- I see that you are new to the board...fshub has been here for a while and added many good points. He/She does not want to annoy anyone but wants to help answer a question...whether u meant to yell or didn't you used caps and Exclmation marks...this is incinuating that you are yelling which there is certainly no need for. Everyone is just trying to help... and I agree with fshub (sorry about the spelling) Many people do not update their profile.

i'm stumped, unfortunately, ther are some more possibilities, one is the tang was just ready to die(how big was it, full grown, maybe it was older, than expected, when you purchased it), another is your test kit, unfortunately they do go bad, i would have my lfs double check my h2o parameters, in case maybe you got a bad kit, or the reagents are no good anymore(this can happen without much notice and soes not depend at all on exp. date, or how long yu may have had the reagents), but i would check them to be sure, although, the tangs, you would think would be affected by poor water too, but it can't hurt to check,
but sometimes, death also jsut happens for no apparent reasons, maybe this was the case

Did you feed them anything diffrent? I lost a couple of fish because I fed shrimp from the fresh seafood area of the grocery store. Turned out I contaimanted (SP) the tank. The fish that ate it directly died in a 1 to 2 days. Everyone else was and is fine. This was 3 or 4 months ago.
