NO!!! Very bad idea!!! I had a Picasso and a Volitans together for about a year and one day the trigger sanpped and killed the lion. The trigger was only about 2.5 inches and the lion was over 8 inches. The trigger took off all his dorsal spines and his pectoral fins....

Thanks. I have only had it for about 2 weeks now. Currently, i am feeding some ghost shrimp. The near term goal is to obviously get it to start feeding on krill and other frozen foods. Just bought my skewer over the weekend to begin feeding frozen foods.
Nice lion! We had one at the store that I wanted to buy but at the time I had shrimp that I didn't want to part with. He was 6-7" and would eat 10 pieces of krill at a time. And you could keep feeding him, and he would not stop eating!! His belly would get almost 2" in diameter!! What are you feeding him?>
I have a 125 with no fish list yet. If i want a lion can it go in with a foxface, an angel fish, anthinias, tang, niger trigger. THese are just fish ideas, i havent chose what I want in reality to my tank size. Lions are so cool def want one
Most certainly. Anything that breathes in my house begins to get a belly like him after a while. He definately got himself a good serving that night. Will be feeding again tomorrow so i will see if i can get some "better" shots of his belly then. As of now, he is only on ghost shrimp. I have tried unsuccessfully to feed him frozen krill and frozen silversides. Basically, when i introduce the krill or the silversides into the water, he turns his back on it as if to show that he is too good for those foods. If he could speak, he'd say "Bring on the live stuff.... and big ones too." But my optimism isn't gone yet. I have only had him for about 2 weeks or so. Time and patience is all I have.
I also had a Huma snap and kill my lion. the Huma was 2", the Volitan was 15" with a 18" finspan. One bite to his throat and he was dead before he hit the bottom.
Just a note on feeding Lions... They will eat pretty much as much food as you put in the tank, so it is very easy to overfeed them. You should really only feed until you start to see a very slight bulge in his stomach. Feeding until his stomach is sticking out an inch or 2 is not good for the fish.

Gotcha.... thanks for the tip!!
Does this advice still hold true when skipping a few days (about 2-3 days) of feeding??

i was just told this at my lfs this week end... the lady said that lions can get some sort of kidney or liver (cant remember which one) from over feeding and this is the reason most lions die... as for feeding mine (i have a fuzzy dwarf now) i soak freeze dried krill in the water then use a turkey baster (sometimes use frozen krill), he usually takes it out of the turkey baster...

He is very happy and as of this past weekend i have been even happier. This past weekend, i was able to get him to feed on frozen krill, rather than just ghost shrimp. So.... now we both benefit!!
