The tank has metal halides as well as power compacts and moon lights. I also use an Artica Chiller to keep the heat down and maintain 78 degrees F. The clam has been in the tank alive and well for over a year. Here is a picture of the set up.

That IS a sun coral?
When I do searches for sun corals, they don't look like that. The ones I see have no polyps.
Is it particular type? I'd love to find one. Are they difficult to care for?

yes thats a sun coral, i dont think they are too difficult to keep they are just non photosynthetic so they require spot feeding.

I know, it's all good
On a different note, the sun corals can be a bit of a chore. To be honest, my wife actually takes care of them. She removes them from the tank with a bit of water and spot feeds every polyp in a small contianer everyday, it takes about 15 minutes and can be tedious at times. We got a great deal on the sun corals because the LFS couldn't figure out why they we dying. We bought them, then did research on how to take care of them. They were on the brink of doom about 7 months ago when we got them, but now are starting to turn around with new polyps developing. I normally don't buy things on a whim, especially without knowing their needs, but I felt that I could do better, and anything was better than what the LFS was doing. As for the rest of the tank, we have a black/white clown, a few chromis and a yellow wrasse in addition to the normal cleaning crew of hermits and snails. Thanks for all the compliments
