A float valve that works?

Does anybody have experience with any float valve that works? I've tried two of the kent marine ones, and both failed to stop the water completely.
I'm thinking of modifying one from a toilet since i've never heard of a toilet overflowing from that valve failing.

well here it what i came up with. and it seems to have held up over night without adding anymore water. I plan on doing a water change in the next couple days, so we'll see if it refills with no issues. If it does work with no problems i plan on making another one for my ATO reservoir and i can post step by step instructions if anyone is interested.

what is that? the only kind i could find was the kent marine one, which i tried(and failed) twice, or one for a toilet bowl.
your picture is too small for me to tell, but it seems the valve may be similar to one used in a toilet, rather than something simlar to the chincy kent marine one.

I got mine from airwaterice...go to their site, and type in float valve they are $12.95......I have a few actually. I keep one in my ro/di container, and one in my sump that works with my ATO
I have NEVER had one fail....Don,t know about the toilet thing.,...LOL

looks good. How big is it? would i be able to make it work in a 5 gallon bucket, or is it too long. Would I have to find something larger to use for my ATO reservoir?
and are you able to adjust it at all? like if i put it in but want to raise or lower the water level

It is not very bog...maybe 5" AND I am totally guessing since I am at work......LOL....I have one in a 12G trashcan which is my ro/di reservoir...and the other in my return section of the sump
YES, it is adjustable. It has a wing nut, and you lower...or raise....the bottle to where you want it.
I am gonna look and see if I can find a picture of how mine is

I really hate to ask a stupid question, but what are you using the float valve for? Is it to shut your RO/DI unit off or for water top off?

It's to shut of my RO unit to my mixing can. I would always turn it on and forget to turn it off and i would overflow it. Now i can turn it on and forget about it without coming down to a puddle on the floor. I want a second one to fill up my top off reservoir without overflowing it too
