Ok, so I'm hopefully getting a new tank soon, and I want to have a center island of LR in that tank. Arches, caves, the whole shebang. However, I want this tank to be made of homemade LR only (after I seed it), I was wondering if I could build the rock around a peice of PVC that, in the bottom, has two sets of holes. One would fit a powerhead just so I can spray water through it, and on the opposite side it would have some little holes. In this PVC will be some sort of micro algea, either sponges or extreemly porus LR rubble for pods to breed, and it'll be open at the top (some type of mesh over it from keeping critters from getting in). It'll act as a little fuge, and will be hidden and exist within the LR. When I needed the pods to actually go into the tank, I'd take the powerhead off of the tank wall, stick the part where the water comes out in the larger hole, and hopefully spray out a ton of pods from the opposite side. When I finished, I'd just put the powerhead back on the tank wall.
Does anyone think that this would be a good idea? I like little projects like this, and I think it would be kind of origional. Plus, the last time I messed with a sump (w/fuge), it was an epic fail, and the HOB filter fuges I"d need an extra light for. This one, the DT light would work for the algea. I don't know how large this tank is going to be yet, but I will get the biggest peice of PVP that will fit, with rock still around it looking pretty. Anyone like the idea?
