A little Confusion about Hypo'ing

I have been hypo'ing an Emporer Angel and have read many many threads on this site about SG/Sal and where these readings need to be. Monday afternoon I was able to get the water to 14ppt. A lot of stuff I have read says the tank needs to be at 1.009/14ppt. After taking another look at my refractometer 14ppt and 1.009 don't line up. 14ppt seems to line up with about 1.010. I know it doesn't seem like much of a difference but after reading so much about hypo I really need to make sure I am getting it right. At this time I am at 14ppt and reading 1.010 on the other side of the lines. I am sure this can be explained very easily I just want to make sure if I need to be at 1.009 and my Refrac is reading 12ppt at 1.009 that is where I need to be.......
Thanks
Cory

Use the 1.009 target on your refractometer, making sure that the refract is calibrated.

I am glad it is going well so far. Make sure you check your SG everyday and do not allow it to go above 1.009. Keep us updated!

I have a royal gramma in quarantine right now, im hypo'ing him just for the heck of it to be safe...
Should SG be kept even slightly below 1.009? or is that the *perfect* balance, not a pinch less or more?

No, anything lower can adversely effect the fish, so maintain the specific reading.
