A Little Prayer for the Gulf Coast Tonite

Hurricane Ivan will come hurling into Mobile, AL tonite. Nite is such a bad time to weather a storm.
I don't know if we have any members here from that area, but no matter. Lets keep these people in our thoughts as we go to bed tonite, and if you believe in GOD, then keep them in our prayers as well. Hurricanes are "nature's" terrorists.
I feel kinda guilty because this Hurricane was forcast to hit my area last week. If it had, I would be homeless now. Of course I kept wishing and hoping it would blow somewhere else, and it did. However, for those of us who have these storms in our lives, hoping it blows in another direction is just natural but in making those silent thoughts, I can't help but realize that if it doesn't come my way, then it will just hit someone else.
No winning with these monsters. Already 2 dead I hear.
Its hard to go to bed knowing the fear that others nearby will feel while I'm asleep, and the devastation facing them tomorrow.

:nope: Many will be affected unfortunately. 2 dead due to tornados which is what we live with from about April through September. I always pray/wish those away also when we sit in our basements riding out a warning watching the skies.
As I was reading about the Caymen Island people, all they wanted was a dry place to sleep. Simple request, but hard to attain at this time. That tiny little 8 mile wide island took this monster full on.
I pray for everyone during this time and all of the times before, many are still homeless from the previous storms.
Be safe everyone.

Hi all. I am from Tuscaloosa, Al and expect to get hit with this storm sometime today. Probably will be without power for some time so wish us luck. Dont have a generator so I just hope the tank makes it through.

Don't feel guilty, Beth, we all have those thoughts. When they were saying Ivan could hit lower Florida, I thought, "man, Florida can't take another one, I hope it goes somewhere else". Then, when I found out it was heading straight for Mobile and the panhandle (my sister lives in Panama City), and the thing would pass straight over Birmingham, I thought, "Well I didn't mean for it to hit 'US'!"........:nervous:
These things are horrible. Fortunately, we have had few lives lost. It was supposed to be much worse, than what it was. I just got my power back, thankfully, but we still have over 800,000 without power in Alabama. We do have a lot of flooding. We got 8 inches of rain, and with all our hills and mountains, it can make for some bad flooding.
We only had about 50mph sustained winds here in Bham, and that awed me. I can't imagine what it is like being in one of these when it is full force at the coast.
Let's hope Jean decides to take a sharp right and visit the middle of the Atlantic.
