This guy is everything I try to teach my son to be. Regardless of your view on whatever war, I think we all respect the soldiers. I even more respect the ones who are there out of a sense of duty. This guy could have been busy buying rolex's and sleeping with half the population of college age Arizona women....Instead he joined the army because he fealt a dbt to our country.

Pat Tillman, who walked away from his professional football career to join the Army Rangers, was killed in Afghanistan, U.S. officials said Friday. The officials, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said a formal announcement was expected later in the day. Spokesmen at the Pentagon and U.S. Army declined comment. There were no immediate details how Tillman died. He was 27.

He died in a gun battle where two other Army Rangers were wounded. Yes, he is a true hero.
Senator McCain, just a bit earlier made an awesome statement that Tillman refused opportunities of publicity for his decision to turn down millions so he could join the army with his brother, because he felt it was no more noble than person less materially well off to do the same.

as far as i'm concerned, there is no form of person out there who deserves greater respect. it's a bummer that he's gone but the whole purpose of life is to utilize your talents to help as many people out as possible. with that in mind, his example will definetely impact many out there to be the best you can be.
God bless our troops and r.i.p. Pat Tillman

I have two close friends that were Rangers in Vietnam....and from them I have a understanding of what it means to be a Ranger. Knowing that Pat Tillman made that choice of his own free will...well there is nothing that can be said to express how I as a veteran myself appreciate the ultimate sacrifice for this country and the freedoms men and women like him fight to protect.
I was deeply moved upon hearing of his death....and I continue to wish well for all of our troops in harms way.

I agree. My heart sunk when I heard the news. I would challenge anyone out there to honestly say, they would do the same thing. If there are "yes answers" you are a liar. This man is a true American hero!! God bless his family...

I have to agree. It is sad when any of our soldiers die but this is the first one that really touched me like it was someone I knew. It is hard to believe what he gave up to go and serve his country. He is a true Hero in my heart and I know there is a very special place that he is enjoying right now.
Rest in Peace Pat

I didn't realize 'til today, not only did he pass up the 3 million contract, but he also was able to enlist as an Officer, but CHOSE to go enlisted... He signed in as a SPECIALIST!! He must have wanted to join specifically to fight. I'll bet even now, if he could go back, he'd do it the same way again...
Football heroes come and go, this guy is a TRUE hero.
Not to many of those anymore.:nope:

I can honestly say he was a better man than I will probably ever be.

I read about him at work today in our local paper, and I simply could not believe that a man of such honor exists in modern society. He is no less than equal to a round table knight in a fairytale read to a child. He could have lived such an easy life....his life story is inspirational.
