a piece of hair ?????

what are the long stringy things coming out of some of my feather dusters they look like a piece of hair about 4 to 5 inches long

I have heard They are like sticky nets they use to catch food, I have a few in my tank unsightly but that is how some of these worms eat!!!

The hair thing is a string of mucous it sends out to catch food particles. It reels it back in and eats whats on it. You will most likely see the strings at feeding time.

This guy is correct! I just experienced the same thing. My zoas and pearl bubble corals do it!! So neat.
