Well, happy to have freed myself from that endless water debate, I have retreated to a neverworld of bizarre beings!
What world you ask? A tank full of uncured LR I answer!
This has got to be one of the funkiest aspects of this hobby. I had no idea.
Got it all set up, and it is brewing and cooking, and I can't tell what is what, but it sure is interesting. (may have to post pix)
My wife is freaked-out, and watches from a conservative 4ft. distance.
Meanwhile, I've got my face pressed against the glass!
The instructions said rinse the rock and scrub it with a nylon brush, etc., etc. I thought, why?
Wouldn't that scrub the LR into just rock?
I just placed it my empty 10g, with filter, heater, and air pump, and let the show begin.
It did start to smell slightly today, so I did a small water change.
This stuff seems to be "smoking fine debris", and the filter seems to be helping.
Its like the hubble telescope. Quite funky.
At this point, I am a big fan of uncured LR.
