A question about RO Units...

Hey, I am planning on setting up my tank in a few weeks and I have heard that I should get an RO Unit. I was wondering if really NEEDED it. I know of a good one that does 10 GPD, which is enough for the tank I'm getting (2.5g) I don't know if I should get one or not, they are quite expensive and my budget isn't that big
So I am not wanting to get one. Could you tell me EXACTLY what they do and their benifits. I would also like some alternate methods too (if there is any).
Thanks

If you are only going to have a 2.5 gallon tank///IMO it is not worth buying a RO system. Just buy water from LFS if available.

At the rate that you will be using RODI water for your tank, it doesn't pay to invest in a purification unit. You can buy RODI at many stores such as WalMart, etc, or from many lfs. But - don't get lazy, always use RODI!

For that size tank you could buy your water in one gallon jugs. One gallon would probably last you a month or so.
