A question for Emerald Crab owners...

How long after the molt does it take for the emeralds to show themselves? I had one that looked like it molted (flap open on bottom of shell), but have not seen him resurface yet.
Unless of course that wasn't a molt at all, but a thoroughly picked over dead crab!

TMICHEL,it looks to me that you guy could molt at anytime.from what i remember my emralds molting once the skin started to get shiny it was about time.
Cayman Isl.,i dont know for sure how long because only a few short weeks afteri got mine it molted.so by that i dont have a specific answer.

I have purchased 7 from this site and they all acted like they owned the place when I released them into the tank. I see them on a daily basis.

Yellowtail, once it did molt did you see the little guy with his new suit right away? It's been about a week and a half since I found his suit.

First, the picture of that Emerald Crab is beautiful!! I personally put an Emerald Crab in our tank and haven't seen him in 6 months. I know he's there, lots of rockwork. The place I got him from only found him because they moved a rock and he was there.

Ours only molted once (that we know of). I saw him perched upside down on a rock one morning...come to find out, it was his molt. He didn't appear for at least a few days after...only much bigger!

That is the exact position this "molt" was. And the belly flap was open. It's been a week and a half and he still hasn't surfaced.
I'll keep an eye out for him....

If their was a flap, then it's safe to assume it was a molt. Mine had a trap door in it's back...kewl. There is a thread on here somewhere that has pretty detailed pics of emerald molts. I'm not sure who the thread starter was, though. Good luck.

yea, I think Kip showed some pics of a molted emerald awhile back. I was just curious as to how long the norm is before he shows up with his new hardware!

just curious. my emerald doesnt look that green and nice. mine is kind of mint not emerald. am i not doing something right.

my 5 emeralds all hide 24/7. I do know that if there is a flap, it is most probably a molt. I wouldn't to much though into it...
