so your saying go fowlr first off, being so noob, and to keep it as less pricey as possible, right? and hey, if you have yahoo, message me, so i can much more easily pick your brain LOL i cant message on here yet, havent been around long enough im guessing LOL and my yahoo is chovuk1982 so if you want to holler at me, feel free to
Well I don't know your financial position so price is relative, but I do think that the FOWLer is easier to maintain. I have never tried "reef", and do not think I would have the patience or time that it would demand. Fish are tough they can take a little abuse if you miss a water change here or there....from what I understand, corals are not so forgiving. No Yahoo IM...I fell of the technology wagon years ago...Still don't understand the purpose of text messaging
...it's a PHONE CALL THEM>>>
As a side note...I would always suggest buying the best equipment you can afford. You can get "by"...with like I say, a powerhead and an airstone...but man does it make it difficult. Always get the best equipment you can afford and it will most likely save you a few headaches.

cool cool, so for a 30 long, how would u set it up? i mean what kinda equipment you'd go with?
If you mean name brands...I dunno I would shop around. If you are looking at powerheads I would probably look at Koralia, for the canister I would look at fluval, The light I would not worry about and would probably just get a standard flourescent, and as far as heaters I have always used Visitherm...go at least 3 watts per gallon preferably 5. I would not limit myself to this, however, this is just what I am used to using. This is by no means the best or worst...just do some shopping around, and if you see something you might be interested in ask around and I am sure someone on these boards has used it.

Hi, If you are having a stand built, just have them build a canapy to match

That way you can retro the lights and add lights as you need them. I found some pc retro kits fairly inexspensive that I am going to change out on my 54 gal corner bow. Pcs will suport soft corals like shrooms, and zoos.
On my 54 gal, I have a couple of powerheads and a canister filter thats it, along with live rock and sand.

sweet, thanks teresa, you an chris an all the others have been a ton of help, i found a 33g long today that looks like it might be perfect to start out on, now just gotta find one at a decent price LOL that one i found at a local lfs was 109 and a 55 at ***** was 109 as well lol and i honestly think a 55 is a lil bit bigger than we can fit upstairs here at our place, a lil bit too much weight, which is why we wanna go with the 33, or maybe even a 40, does anyone know how much one of those would weigh, roughly, when set up correctly for a FOWLR tank?
