A School of Yellow Tangs

ALthough I have and support the fact of 1 type of the same fish per tank, I have also heard Yellow Tangs can school. I was thinking of getting 4, all at the same time. Current fish, Large Maroon clown, small Picaso trigger, small Blue head Wrase. Tank: 90, FO.
Thoughts?

i'm surprise no one is busting you yet.... anyway, i think that your tank is a little too small for a scholl of yellow tangs... i would suggest a 180 for a school of tangs... i think that you will be seeing the scalpels out if you decide to keep a school of yellows... just a warning but you can whatever you want...

Yeah, too small of a tank to support a school. A single one would be fine though. Bo

Yellow tangs do school... i have seen footage in the wild of them going to town on algae. pretty intense. But i would agree, you would need a big a** tank to stock a school of em. that would be cool though....

You would need a tank that was like 200 or more gallons for that, and pretty much no other species of fish.

Hey, I had 4 in a 55 gal. small ones, but they all did very good. I ended up selling them to my LFS when I had to move. I want to do that again. It is beautiful !!!

Well they may have been small, however they do get big and one would outgrow a 55 gallon.

Yes they get quite big. If I do it again, I will have a much bigger tank. I have 3 very small Blue Tangs in a 150 tank now. They school, and are really pretty.

Thats really cool about the school....do they really compete for food?
