i have the same test kit and the ammonia never reads 0. my tank has been up and running for 9 months and the ammonia reading still shows what yours does. if your nitrites are 0ppm, and nitrates are low then your ok. it is the kit, not your tank.

agreed, looks like the same kit i have. always takes several looks to see if it is at 0 or .25. sometimes never can tell.

i got that kit to replace a red sea kit that never read zero either. but, on mine, the .25 and 0 readings are reversed compared to yours, with the browner color being zero. mine will read zero, but it takes bright lights and good peepers. i wouldn't worry about it. what are your nitrites?

my nitrites always read 0 but this kit says my nitrates are off the scale, even right after a water change. this tank has been running for over a year plus since i got it from my brother( i kept all the water from when i moved it) so i guess a different kitt is in order
