a stupid question from 1 really tired dude

how do the copepods in the fuge get to the main tank to feed the scooter's and the mandarins that love them so much. i know they are also breeding in the display but those 2 fish can dwindle the population in a hurry

my return pump is the 900 gph mag series mag-9 i think is what it is called has a sponge at the inlet tube and if i took it off i think the copepods would be chopped to bits i'm not adding either fish till december because i've starved to many to death as it is my system will be 15 months old then and should support whichever or both as of right now i have 160 lbs. of lr and 60 lbs. of ls with at least another 40 lbs. of ls still coming any help appreciated tobin

you shouldn't have a pump return. I pump up to the fuge then gravity takes it back down. Nothing gets choped in a pump that way. The worse that happens is they don't enjoy the slide ride down.

hmm, so your fuge is above your tank?
Most fuges are below the main tank so he is talking about pumping the water with the pods UP to the tank.

my fuge is under my tank the overflow is gravity fed the fuge is in the stand which is under the tank so pump is neccassary to get water back walah chopped pods

My pods are breeding in my refugium. I also have chaeto in there. What I do is when I turn the fuge lights on (when the displays turn off for the night) I will grab a small chunk of chaeto and throw it into the display. The micro stars and the pods all fall off and go scurring in the display. The tangs and the angels slowly dwindle down the chaeto in the display.

ok thanks barry i wasn't sure how that worked obviously from my post guess i want everything to take care of itself how often you pull up a wad of chaeto? thanx tobin

Pumps do not harm most small pods. You need to remove the sponge though.
