A stupid question

:help:
I have few questions.
1. I just purchased a 75 gal tank
I don't have the filter yet should I wait on mixing the water and filling it until I have every thing ?

I am new too but I would have everything in place including filter because once you fill the tank it will not move. I have an eheim canister wet dry and I connected all the hoses and stuff on an empty tank. Once finished, I filled it and then turned it on.

I would wait until you get your live rock, sand, heater and at least 1 power head. You can start the cycle and get all the other stuff. The cycle will take afew weeks anyway.

Yes wait till you have the filter. get the filter, add the cc or ls. then add the pre-mixed saltwater. Add lr if you have it.
then throw in a dead shrimp and wait for the tank to cycle.
Welcome to the hobby. No question is a stupid question here. We rather you'd ask before doing something than make a mistake and kill a fish/invert.

Ok guys as I was reading some of the other post I wanted to also say that I have been watching all the post on here for about 3 months. Reading everything I could buy on owning and taking care of a tank.
I am taking my time to do everything right the first time I don't want to kill any fish or anything either.
Things I do have.
Powersweep 228
Crushed coral
Have painted the back of the tank cobalt blue
Deep six hydrometer
and of course the salt.
I do have another question about the lights, I have a 4 tube regular florescent light box that I had at work it fits the tank top perfectly altho I am still having a custom canopy built to use these lights.. Will this be ok for the fish tank it is very bright and lights up the tank well .... with out water for now. My next purchase is going to be the the wet dry filter. Should I wait until I have it to fill and mix the water?

In this hobby, it considered low lighting. You could do fish only or have low light corals like mushrooms.
I do not use a wet dry. My filter is a DSB, live rock and a skimmer. Thats all you really need. But, if you want the WD, it up to you. It can be added later if need be to answer you question.
BTW, the power sweep is a great idea, but it stops sweeping unless you clean it regularly.
Also, I recomend you use sand and not the C. coral. It traps waste and also needs to be cleaned all the time.

I am a newbie to the hobby and I wanna know if it is worth buying all of this stuff and if there is alot of matinance involved. Also is a 29 gallon tank big enough? What type of filteration do I need? I am going to get a filter that sits in the hood compartment and I am thinking of getting a LR. Is this enough for the tank? Also whaqt is this pH and ammonia and all this other stuff mean? Tanks alot.

Daredevil, i would gladly tell you not to get involved with this hobby if your going to slack off and not take care of it. it takes time, and lots of frustration to get though even the cycle and the first couple fish. if you arent going to dedicate time, then your just going to end up with dead fish, a hole in your pocket, and a whole bunch of stuff in your living room. but if you are willing to spend time, research what you do, take your time, and not rush things, this is one of the best hobby's you can get in to. You can have your very own underwater world that is perfect to you, with all your little baby's swimming around.
