Thank you all for welcoming me here! I don't want you all to think I entered into this "spur of the moment" well, I guess I kinda did. i have always wanted a saltwater. Have had fresh for years. This deal came up and it was too good to pass up, so I went for it without doing research. The tank has been up and going for years, the guy was moving, so i bought it. I'm not sure yet of what a lot of the stuff is called, but I am a person who does nothing half way, and am looking forward to learning everything I can about this new adventure. the fish I have are: Tomato Clown, Mandrin Gobie, Wrasse, Royal Gramma, and a Mandrin EEl. I know I have leather coral, some other coral, my sea Anemoni and a lot of shrooms. There is also some very beautiful red thing growing off the rock. It's quite tall and big, it tore off close to the base during the move, but I'm hoping it reattaches itself in it's new location.
I hope you all will bare with me as I continue asking questions and after work today I am heading to the library to get some books on this subject. The man I bought the tank from said he would stop in frequently to check on things and answer any questions I may have, but i haven't seen him since he set it up. i am such a newbie I don't even know what you all are talking about when you say "Cycling" also, what is the ideal temp for the tank?
Thank you all again. I really enjoy reading your posts. You are very funny, and I have already learned a ton. It will certainly help to know how to hide the money spent from my husband. I already learned that salt water in open cuts is not an enjoyable thing!

The amazing thing about this board is that I have learned more than the irresponsible salesman at my local fish store knows about RESPONSIBLE fish keeping. Makes me want to master even the finest details of the hobby and perhaps work part-time for a LFS, advising new hobbyists on proper practices and procedures. But I'd probably get fired for refusing to sell Yellow Tangs to people who just bought a new 26 gallon bowfront tank...
