It's being a year today since I got my first salt water set up. Since then I have being tryin to make my tank to look nice and perfect (to me perfect means water completely cristal cear and colorful corals) I found that I need to change my lights in order to accomplish this since I have a coralite set and a lot of people tells me that i need helide lights. I will do this as soon I uograde to my new 150gl tank. I still LOCO DE LA CABEZA, because I dont undestand most of whats going on in th tank. I have lost several of my fish (some of them just desapeared) as well as some of my shrimps and HERMIT CRABS.
In any case, I think I am suffering from a plage of something that looks like a very fine thread, like a some sort od anemonee, but they are very fine and thin all over the live rock. Also I got an scooter blenny a couple of month ago and in the begining they were plenty of copepods and little (worm like) thing crwling all over the place and now, at night, I can rarely see any. How can I make this population grow back again. And can any one please, for te love of my fish, tell me how can achieve crystal clear water quality????????
I have in this 75gl tank:
2 Crommies
2 Blennies (White with a yellow blue stripe on the head)
1 Maroon Clown(he behaves like a dog and my two anemonees don't opne anymore and hide all the time)
1 Midas blenny
1 Color beauty
1 Bicolor blenny
1 snow flake moore eel
1 scotter blenny
2 anemonees (1 white and the other os brown)
1 bubble coral
2 more corals (I don't really know the names since they are hard for me to remember)
Please help, I know that this tank is probably overstoked and thats why I have a 20gl sump filter, and a 60gl hang filter or something like that. I also have an protein skimmer and I chek for ammonia and nitrates and all that stuff. I have never have and ammonis spike or anything like that. I feed my fish twice a day only and still I cant get clear water. HELP HELP HELP
(I over stoked my tank beacuse the sales person who helped me was *%$!!!! crazy and wanted my money only. Now I go to other store and even though the guy speaks as much englis as me chinesse is better)

I also would love crystal clear water, but my GM clown is constantly stirring up the sand bed.
I have A 75gal fresh water . I always receive comments on how clear and bright the water is. I guess my clown is my bane to bear.
,but I wouldn't trade him for clearer water.

Here's my thoughts/advice:
1.) Feeding twice a day is overkill. Once a day is enough. If there is an excess of food, that can lead to unwanted algae growth.
2.) Your tank may be a wee overstocked, but those fish are all decently small for a 75G. I'm surprised you're able to keep all of those blennies together without a problem. What do you have for a filtration system (skimmer, sump, etc.)? Do you do water changes?
3.) The reason why you don't have pods anymore is because your Scooter Blenny is eating them all (as are all the other fish.) Unless you have a refugium or a place in your sump where they can multiply without having to worry about predation, all of your pods will soon be gone.
4.) If you run carbon, that should make your water clear up and remove odors and other impurities as well. You can do a search on these forums for carbon...
5.) I agree that your snowflake eel may
be eating whatever fish/inverts are missing. They're typically pretty docile, but hey, they are carnivores, and if they're hungry enough, they'll eat anything they can catch.

well, I just got medusa (i decided to call my ell ike that) few days ago. The fish desapear before. Actually, one day 2 blenies and a cleaner shrimp just desapear, almost right before my eyes. They were nice and live by night and gone the other day. Few days ago I got another cleaner shrimp to be with the one I already have and it desapeared over night

Have you ever heard any "clicking" noises coming from your tank at all?
Have you tested for ammonia/nitrites/nitrates? I see that you say you test and never see a spike... what kind of test kits are you using? Strips or liquid?

I heard the clicking noises all the time. I think those are the hermit crabs, they have huge houses and some time the snails are on them. Its so fun to see them moving with a snail on. I use liquids to test amonia and stuff and I do water changes every week. 10-15 gallons.
