? about an electronic ballast

I just upraded my old tar and coil VHO ballast to an electronic ballast on Saturday. When I changed the ballast the tank actually looked brighter. Do electronic ballasts make your bulbs brighter? Also, my ballast is cool to the touch, would it be okay to mount it inside the stand?

No problem with mounting it inside the stand. Go for it.

Yes they do seem to emit brighter. Also, IC claims that you can use NO on their ballast and get near VHO results.

I was told that IceCap engineers the ballasts to overdrive NO bulbs by a factor of 1.5, and that they underdrive VHO by up to 40%, hence the extended lamp life.
So the story goes...

I dont know if it will make them brighter, but the electronic ballasts operate at a different frequency. They cycle around 50 times faster hence no flashing look to them to some people
