i have three different kinds of linkia.....blue, maroon and red. They vary in prices form 15$ to all the way to 75$ for the maroon linkia. They only eat detrius and small algeas. I add phytoplankton every third day to the tank both for my inverts fish and becasue the stars can absorb the nutrients frmo the phyto through their skin. Mine have always been quite hardy together. It shipped well for me (i bought it 5 hours away) in an oxygen filled bag. As longa s you keep a clean and well maintained tanmk, you should have no problem of it surviving on its own.

ps- when healthy, the linkias are VERY active moving all over!

I agree with what's been posted. They will do a good job on algae. Don't touch them. The oils on your skin will cause them to desintigrate. They are delicate, but beautiful. They are good algae eaters though. Keep the ph stable.

Mr. Tang, 24 hours is quite impressive. How did you accomplish this? Did you drip a few drops in the bag every 5 minutes?

I've also heard of people acclimating blue linkia for as long as 24 hrs. It wouldn't be difficult if you just put them in a bucket and let it drip very slowly. The only problem i have with this is keeping the water temp the same. You have to put a heater in the bucket at some point, well i do anyway when i acclimate my fish this way.

Just to let you know i got one yesterday that i had my eye on for 3 weeks now. I figured that he was ok since he was at the lfs for that long. I acclimated him between 4 and 5 hours just to be safe. I mowed the lawn, cleaned the house, made dinner and then my 5 gal bucket was 3/4 full from the inch of water it started out as. The first blue i got died in a few days and never even really moved in my tank(didn't acclimate him for more than 30 min., plus it was a new tank) This guy has been all over the place since he has been put in.
