What type of clam? Generally I would push alittle sand aside stick him in it and then back fill him so he don't tip over.

very pretty. Pictures never do them justice though. I can't wait to get one someday. But my tank is still new so I have a few months to go. Plus I'm waiting on my lights to come in. Congrat's on the new addition.

Put a shell under him or else he will be attatched to the bottom of your tank forever. He also may benefit from placing him on the rockwork or at least closer to the lights.

A shell would be better, but low on the rock would be OK too.
Place a small rock on both sides loosly so it doesn't fall over.

Crocea's prefer the rockwork...
They use an acid in the wild that melts the rock until the clam is all the way in the rock and all you can see is the mantle. I will try and find a pic.

Oh yeah you can put it anyway you want. I would probably put mine on the sandbed too, nice sand decoration. Just use a shell like mentioned, or u could use a rock (without a rock would look better). Here is another cool pick.

I don't know if a shell is nesessary, but I have a maxima who is stuck to the bottom of my tank. If I could move him I would. A few days after I got him, someone suggested the shell. Too Late.
