At the lfs? Yes, the tank at the LFS had fish in it with the cleaner shrimp. I doubt there was much of a temp change from lfs to my car to my tank. Then again, I'm not really sure. If it was, then I guess that could have been the problem.
Why are you asking if there was fish in the tank at the LFS? Also, there are/were no fish in my tank when I got the shrimp.

Most lfs as a way to entice people to buy fish and because, also most all potential buyers will ask if the fish is eating. will dump food into the tank. The fish then eat the food excrete ammonia and before it is converted or passed along via their filtration you get a bag of water with high levels of ammonia. Shrimp are very very susceptible to even the smallest levels of ammonia. Snake this is just how my mind works and just something to consider

That could have been the problem. I wish I would have tested the bag water now. I guess I will never know.
I once had a cleaner shrimp shipped to me after I got my main shipment and FedEx didn't call me to tell me they had it until a week and a half after they recieved it. I knew it was the cleaner shrimp I didn't get with the main shipment. I immediately rushed over there to pick it up, and when I got back I opened it carefully and peeked inside... and guess what? The little sucker was still alive! After almost two weeks in the dark in a bag - So I know shrimp are very hardy creatures. It's just really disappointing that this one didn't make it but 30 minutes.

Actually they are hardy when not subjected to water parameter changes in a short period of time. As for your two week in the bag shrimp, the only change would have been temp and as water temp changes rather slowly unless the shrimp was subjected to to a change in a short period of time I am not surprised it survived
