hey everyone hope your all having a great day..... wanted to write
real fast and ask a quick question about the rock and cycling... im
going on the third week so far with my tank and i have about 40
lbs. of live rock and ive placed an order for 45 more from here and i
was just wondering when i get the new rock does the cycling process
start over?? what i mean is is it like starting all over again cause everything i have now in my readings are 0 and im pretty sure its
completely cycled already... will it all start over completely or not?? will it just take a week or so long to cycle this new rock??

YOu can put the new rock in a separate container with a power head an let it cure or you can through it in your tank if you don't have anything living in it yet but yes you will experience a mini cycle. Probably not as long as your first but your tank will have to cycle the die off.

Think it depends on whether or not the rock is cured. If it's uncured, it would more than likely cause a cycle again (probably not as long as the first since you've already established some good bacteria during the first cycle) whereas cured may or may not (usually not) Best to just throw it in and test the levels out over the next week or so.

The new rock may cause a majior cycle if its not cured. Some web sites sell cured and uncured live rock, be careful if you have any fish in there.

The stuff from this site is cured but die off will occure during shipping thus causing ammonia. depending on how much good bac. your cycle created you may not but if you did it would be mini.

If you are going to put the LR in your tank I would wait on the cleaners. Wait a few days after you add the LR and test the water if it is not off then go ahead and order and if it does cycle wait till it is ending up and order.
