ive been thinking about getting a few hermit crabs to help clean up my sand,
my question is are most hermit crabs ok to go together for instance like scarlet, blue leg, red leg and like jade? i think ive read somewhere you only want one scarlet for some reason.
if im gonna get hermit crabs id rather get ones that have nice colors on there legs instead or just the normal run of the mill ones.

I am not an expert on this but I just purchased 10 blue legs and 10 scarlets from SWF, I have had them in the tank for 4 days now and they are doing great. They are not bothering each other or the snails and they seem to be scavenging 24/7. I hope this helps.

speaking about ordering stuff online like fish and stuff how long does it normally take to arrive? and how do they package it..

Monday through Thursday SWF delivers overnight Fedex. They are in plastic bags inside of a styrofoam case, inside a cardboard box. If you order past, I think 11:00 a.m. EST Thurday-Sunday, they ship on Monday for Tuesday delivery. Even here in BFE AZ, it's o/n.

wow thats awosme i figured it would have to be fast, didnt expect it to be next day though. thats good cause most of the time i end up going to local stored for whatever i want cause i hate waiting 5-7 days lol, i end up paying a little more for my inpatience though lol.
good to know thx for the response, im considering ordering some more inverts since it seems that the lfs around me seem to have a shortage on what i want. mayby im going on wrong days or they sell fast i dunno.

btw can hermits flip themselves upright if they are upside down? i assume they can since they can switch shells but i just want to make sure.

Yes, they can flip over. Some of the snails have a problem with this but not hermits. The only negative thing to these guys is that they sometimes kill snails for their shell. You will need to keep assorted sizes of empty shells so that they can move into new ones when they outgrow the ones they are in. Good luck with your hermits, they are great little scavengers and mine seem to always stay busy doing their job.

I've heard a few problems with the red legged hermits as they can be a little more aggressive on things (sorry no details just hearsay) but I've never had any problems with the 100+ blue leg hermits I've had in my tank

I read just the opposite on another reputable site. I only keep Mexican Red-Legged hermits and no fighting or killing of snails.

Don't put blue legs in with Nassarius snails.
