About Iodine

i've heard about dipping new corals in iodine, but I need more information.
How much iodine do you use?
Use a preparation?
How long do you dip them?
Does it hurt anything (critter-wise) in your tank afterward?
I've left comments in others threads but so far nothing....maybe they're mad cause I hijacked the thread? I hope not cause I didnt mean to do that really, I just wanted to know too! *blushes*

I would suggest Seachem Reef Dip. You use 1 capful in a gallon of source water and dip for 5-10 minutes. I dip everything I get prior to placing it in my tank. Haven't had a problem yet. IMO the most important thing while doing this is to be sure the dip water is the same temp as the tank.
