? about powerhead covering

I am getting a GTBA in tomorrow and read that I need to cover my powerhead intakes so it doesn't get sucked in while it is searching for a good spot. What should I be using? I see people are using "socks", but I am not sure what they are specifically referring to. Nylon stockings seem like they are too fine and would restrict flow, I do have some vinyl window screen, but i'm not sure how I would attach it. I have korialia powerheads.

then no worries if you have koralia. those powerheads dont suck in water like maxi-jet do. they just move like a fan the water. so no socks needed.

Well, that makes it easier. I was under the impression that the nem could still get sucked in. I read a few threads where they said that it happened...one said something like "my anemone got a haircut today". :)

yes, green bubble tip anemone. it looks like it is doing well so far, except it has attached itself on the bottom side of an overhang. i guess it will move when it decides it needs to get some light. it is actually much bigger than i expected it to be, a good 4-5" diameter.

The bulbs havent started to inflate yet. I am wondering if that is because its getting blasted by a powerhead.

My anemone got sucked into a Korilia power head 3xs.
Go to the LFS and get black filter pads...cut them to size and sew them with clear fish line, to fit the koralia, no needle needed, just thread it through and tie it off.
The filter will keep the anemone safe, and yet doesn't clog up nor restrict flow. I shake mine out in saltwater when I do water changes. I used the same filterpad for 3 years without replacing it.

mine got stuck in the same power head
put some panty hose over them.
good luck

Panty hose works, but it gets clogged too fast and you have to clean it almost everyday.
