Ok so I live in RI although its a tiny state, it does have some redeeming qualities... Give me a minute I'll try to think of one.

Seriously, the company I work for is doing work on a residential house close by. Its quite obvious that the owner of this house really doesnt need to worry about money ever again in his life (we do alot of work for him and his company). I had to stop by the other day and talk to him. I was on my way back from a large fish store in Massachusetts so when I got to his house I apologized for being a bit late but after telling him where I was his eyes lit up. I saw the opportunity to mention to him that with all the cool bells and whistles he was adding to his house, he should consider a fish tank. He lauged and said that the counter I was leaning on was the stand for his custom made 500 gal salt water reef tank. OMG !!! I am going to take pictures of this project as it progresses and post them here as I get them... All plumbing in his basement.. all professionally built and installed by one of the LFS I frequent. Absolutly amazing....
Too boot I stopped by the fish store that is doing this job for him just to chat. They told me they are doing another house close by a town called East Greenwich. The person that ownes this house it is Michael Galvin.. I dont know any details for fact other than what I am told.. He obviously owns Michael K Galvin Beauty schools but apparently he has some owner ship or helped invent Patron Tequila.. I dont know.. But what I do know is that this FS is putting a fish tank in his house... 3,500 Gal custom cylindrical tank..
I almost fell over... to date this this is the largest install of a SW tank these guys have done. I only wish I could get pictures of that..
But they said they are going to get some of it when its done maybe I can get some from them.
Well I just thought you all would be interested in hearing about SW tanks like this, so I wanted to spread the story...Apparently its cost is in the hundreds of thousands. WOW. is all I got to say about that.

i think its awesome that people have tanks like this ,, but i really dont respect them if they dont take care of it themselves.. I mean anyone can spend 20K on a tank and a few grand a month to have it maintained but whats the fun in that?
to me the fun in aquariums are plumbing a tank, selecting fish, aquascaping, fixing problems and learning, hand picking corals etc. etc..
im not saying these people arent doing this but i highly doubt it...
either way pretty cool..

Well I agree.. to me half the fun is getting in there with your own 2 hands and learning the science behind the beauty. Although I doubt the guy who is getting the 3500 gal tank done for him will care less about maintanence. The other tank set up 500 gal I asked that question to them myself. The answer I got was..in time they want to learn how to maintain it and get into the science of it all but initially to get it built and going the LFS is doing that. And then in time have those guys teach them about it all. should be a blast to see this from start to finish.

it really would be awesome if he just got some small sharks, tamed them so he could swim in there, then build alittle reef in there as well and go swimming! Apparently he bought $1100 worth of salt.
