im looking to get acans but theres a few thing im wondering how much lighting do they need? i have 2 96 watt lights over my 125g will that be enough? how much flow do they need? do you need to add any calcium or something like that? and once you get a frag how can you transfer that to a bigger rock? if you just set the frag on a rock will it eventually spread?

yea once you frag just glue it to another rock and let it grow. They dont need a ton of flow. 2 96w over a 125..hmmm maybe if you kept them kinda mid-higher up they are not really to light intensive but they need some. feeding also helps as well.

ive seen some articles of people fragging them with a hammer and chissel! is this an ok method as i dont have a dremel. i wanna fatten mine up a bit then im going to have a go at fragging!

well..I think if you have a sharp chisel and it only takes one smack to split the acan off cleanly. I dont see any issue..Another way is if you have a way to hold it upside down and cut the rock under it almost all the way through with a hacksaw or something..then take a flat head screwdriver put it in the groove and turn. it should crack it and if you got any flesh holding on use an xacto knife to cut it free

yea im thinking of using a chisel! the acan is attached to a piece of tile so it should not be that hard to seperate it!
