I have had my haddoni anemone under sub par flourescent lighting. Today i purchased 2x150 metal halide lighting. Will ithurt him if i just put the new lighting over him he is about 18 inches beneath them on the tanks bottom? I read somewhere that he may release his algae and bleach himself if i dont acclimate him?

yes you can kill your anemone by suddenly increasing lighting.
I would place several layers (about 4) of window screen between your new lights and the anemone and remove one layer every 2 weeks to slowly acclimate him to the new lighting. if he acclimates faster on his own he will move out from under the screen to get to the brighter light.

after losing almost $7,000 worth of livestock due to an piece of equipment failure I decided I wasn't going to rebuild right away. I didn't have the heart or the money to dive right back in. I may set up something smaller in the future but for now I am a freshie

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss...what equipment? My tank killer was a broken heater...it zapped the entire tank.

Automatic top off I had it hooked so when over filled the tank drained down a drain so I would have less water accidents...... so it kept pumping freshwater into the tank at a trickles pace I never noticed until it was too late.
