acclimating metal hailides?

I just put up metal hailides 3 days ago. Did not know you have to acclimate lights and been running lights for 8 hours and power compact for 10 which are also new. What should i do:

Is this a new setup or lighting upgrade? I would start with a reduced lighting period of 2-4 hrs for mh and pc's add 1 hr every 3-4 days until you get to the lighting period you want. Make sure you watch tank temp and evaporation.

Just slowly bring up the lights until you get to what you want. This will help prevent a large algea bloom and stress to any corals or fish.
