My snails are comin in today.. so i have some questions..
1. how long should I acclimate them for.
2. im planning on following drip acclimation just like in the convenient flash presentation on this site. Is this a good idea? or is there a better method
thanks

I got an order of snails from SWF.com recently and as I always do, acclimated them for temp for about 20 minutes (took the dog for a short walk), then cut the bag open and dropped 'em into the tank. They are all doing well (except those that my hermits have eaten
).
The drip acclimation method is more important for fish and I have used it but for corals and inverts, I just temp acclimate then release them. IMO, if you know that your water quality is in fact very good, and have confirmed that by regular testing, then you can release them into your tank w/o using drip acclimation. Salinity differences are probably the major reason to use the drip method as this can be be a real shock, if the difference is significant.
Do you have any hermits in your tank? If so, be prepared to lose some snails.

I always drip acclimate my snails for 2 hrs. Simply temp acclimating is not recommended and the hermits may be killing them because they are dying from shock.
I drip acclimate and every 30 min I scoop out a cup of water.
Hermits can definitely be killers, Ive moved all mine to my fuge.

you should always acclimate fish and inverts, specially snails. They have a low tolerance for salinity changes. 45 minutes at least. The farther-off your DT parameters are to the snail water, the more time acclimation is required in order to achive the least amount of shock...

i personally have had better survival when just dropping them in....i also check bagged water on temp and salinity to see if it's off much and if it's close enough ....away they go
