Acclimation Advice

I just got a 150watt MH for a 24 gallon tank. The tank is 18x18x18. I've read that its best to only have the light on about 2-30 mins at first and each day increase it a little at a time. Is that correct?
I am planning to add in an orange ricordea and some green button polyps so any advice on light usage? I also plan on placing everything on the very bottom of the tank and the light has 2 panes of glass between it and the water as well as about 4-6 inches of space.

there i can help you, what i do is shut off the lights in my room, plug the windw with a pillow so just a crack of light is shining through(so i can see) that i empty the fish/invert/coral into a bucket with a rag under one side of the bucket so there is enough water to swim around, then i clip a modified airline tubing to the edge of the tank and get the drips to about 4 drips/second, wait for the water to doulble in volumme, then take out half of the water and let it double again and then im done, or i may go on for another hour or two like this.

1-2 hours a day and gradually increase, if you can do one hour at a time, then off for a few hours then on again, that works as well. Do this for 4 days or so, then increase a little more, etc.
Everyone has their own method.
I do suggest that you lower as many corals as you can to the lower half of your tank so that they don't get fried by the new lights.
Also, keep an eye on the temperature.

I am trying the screen method. I stacked 4 screens ontop of one another so it filters out most of the light and every other day I will remove one

Also a good method, especially if you don't want to lower all your corals. I have a 155 and screens just become a hassle. I put my halides on a pulley system so I could raise or lower them as needed.
