The LFS that I deal with is a serious store with fish being its main piece of the business. When I set up my SW tank, he recommended that I keep the SG at 1.018 for a FO setup.
They keep their FO water at 1.018 like he said and I have checked it with a refractometer when I purchased a fish there.
Now I notice that most of the people here seem to keep their SG at anywhere from 1.023 to 1.026 as most have reef and/or fowlr.
I have two questions:
The first is should I really raise my sg to 1.023-1.026 for FO with a few snails?
The second question is on acclimation. If I do raise the sg to, say, 1.024 or so and I purchase fish from this same LFS, will the acclimation of going from 1.018 LFS sg to my tank 1.024 have a negative effect on the fish even though I acclimate the fish properly.
In other words, is there a limit on fish going from one sg to another?
Thanks all!
