Acclimation Procedure?

I am in the process of acclimating an order of inverts from saltwater fish.com. After you put them in the tank do you put the water from the pails back in the tank also? If not what is the best way to make up the lost water?

dont put the water back in, mix up some fresh salt water (fresh salt water I dont like the way that sounds) but mix up more water and replace it.

No, do not put that water in your tank. Since what you took out was saltwater, you want to replace it with saltwater also. Set up the appropriate amount of water like you are doing a water change (correct specific gravity, heat, aerate...), and top your tank off with that! I usually count it as a weekly water change when I acclimate new critters. Kill two birds.... :cheer:

I have premix saltwater on hand all the time that matches my tanks. I do not trust any water going into my tank that I have not made-up my self. I always discard the acclimation water and top the tank of with new.

Can't stress that enough I buy my fish at a great LFS that has some incredibly expensive fish so I know they have great water but I still wouldn't ever take the chance of mixing it with mine.
