SWF.com(and prety much every other site for that matter) definitely has some wrong/bad information in their livestock descriptions.
I usually check at least 3-4 different sites descriptions before making a decision. All of them are usually different somewhat
It's also always good to search or ask here on the board for what care/tank size any potential new livestack needs.

I personally wouldent recommend any starfish except baby asterina or a brittle star.Any other type will slowly starve unless that are in a HUGE system.my 2 cents

CC can be target fed...I do mine and have had if for about 2 years....Doing great...Brittle are great I have one thats about the size of a dinner plate...They are known to ambush fish in the night if they are not properly fed though..

No one knows what linkia's starfish eat but they take months to starve, it may seem great now but without a ton of mature live rock this starfish is going to die, you will notice the legs turning white and falling off. I would really recommend you start looking for a good pet store or suitable owner for it before this happens. They are very hard to keep alive for long, I'm glad you acclimated correctly, just make sure your salinity stays steady at 1.025-1.026 while you have it.

You will not be able to keep a linkia fed in a fairly new 29g. No chance. I'm not trying to be rude or harsh but it is going to die, almost guaranteed. You need to get rid of it ASAP!
Where in Texas are you? I'll link you to a local reef club that can help you out in trade

Well my tank is not new its three years old and if thats new then crap what isnt 10....and I do have live rock in there.....plus Im getting more....not to mention, I saw a 24g Nano and they have had a star doing great in theres and it wasnt just added, so true down the road something (knock on wood) may happen but since the Orange Linkia is not that well known about its kinda hard to say what will happen....Im watching him and observing him each day to make sure hes ok.....and yes it takes months....I aware of this I research before I buy and it may come down to taking him to a new home, but right now I think it would be wise to monitor and see how he adapts....that may sound harsh to some of you but dont worry I know what Im doing....I am a worry wart....and I love animals more thank youll ever know.....like I said Ill keep yall posted....and boy some of yall are being a bit snappy thats why I snapped back.....

No offense, but if you knew what you were doing with regards to stars, you wouldn't be on here asking how to acclimate and care for it.
We're not being snappy, we are being REALISTIC unlike you. It will not have enough live rock in that size tank to get enough food. That isn't speculation, it's fact. I know you like it and think it's pretty so you don't want to acknowledge that but it is still true

I'm trying to HELP you but if you don't want it, enjoy the star while it lasts. Twice i have offered to hook you up with your local reef club which could help you with this and god knows what else. All ive asked is what city you live in but apparently that is too much...... so good luck.

Just because Im asking questions doesnt mean I dont know what Im doing...and Im sorry I dont know EVERYTHING....and yes I do like the starfish and yes it is pretty.....but I dont just go and say ooohhhh I want him...when its really he would be a nice addition but lets see what other stuff we can find out about him....and after this post...I have came to a conclusion on my own that if my tank is not suitable than I know a good home he can go to.......I am working on a reef tank...and I care and understand the needs of the animals....and the reason I wont tell you where I am is because I dont feel comfortable saying where I am on the net....sorry to cause so much steam....its just that no one can say how Im feeling or what Im thinking...especially when they dont even know me....once again the star will be getting a new home....I never knew that asking how long to acclimate a star....would lead to me being a bad hobbyist who doesnt know anything and does not care about other living things....which by the way is way f. wrong....once again sorry for the steam and thanks a ton for the help...

Ok, first save the drama. Noone even remotely attacked you
Don't act like you are Mr. Starfish now and did a bunch of research BEFORE you bought it, clearly you didn't.
No one ever said you were a bad hobbyist or didn't care about anything in your tank so quit the pity party. You asked a question and we answered it. Like so many on these forums, you didn't like the answer so now you are getting defensive and reaching for straws to support your WRONG position.
Lastly, You don't feel comfortable saying what City you live in?!?! I wasn't asking your street adress just the general city/county so i could give you a link to your local reef club. It would have been the best thing that ever happened to you in this hobby but oh well.
Your right, I wasn't trying to help you meet a bunch of experienced reefers in your area that could help you out whenever you need it. Once i found your city,I was gonna take a flight out to Wherever,Texas, look up Jaysonl in the yellow pages and steal your Linkia
Danggit, you caught me!

Good luck with the linkia!
