Powder Blues can actually be pretty aggressive.....mine killed my male Yellow Stingray and then started picking at my female Yellow Ray.....had to take it out.
The Achilles is extremely hard to keep alive.....it is probably the hardest tang to keep......just wanted to warn you.....nice looking fish though!

Any "powder" tangs - very hard to keep. I have gone through 23 of them. All other, no problem. They must not like my tank!

Powder blues and Achilles tnags are osme of the hardest to keep alive long term. The are aggressive and very territorial. If you have to keep a tank I suggest a Powder Brown or white cheek. they are hardier then the formentioned and have great personalitites. Keep in mind Tangs need alot of swimming room and I personally wouldn't keep more than 1 in a 125.

I have two tangs no problem in a 125g. But the achilles and powder blue are the harder tangs to keep. I'd so with something easier like a powder brown, yellow tang, or purple tang.

Which ever tangs you decied to get I would put them in at the same time as this tends to diffuse the agression as neither one was in there first to think the tank is all his to defend against an intruder. I would make sure that the more agressive variety is smaller than the less agressive variety you put in your tank. If you are putting them in a quarenteen tank it may not be possible to put them in the display at the same time. In this case purchase the less agressive one first and put him in the tank. Put the more agressive one in the tank last. Lesley

I don't see that they would have a particular problem getting along....I wouldn't advise either one, but to answer your question, yes they should get along OK.

If your really happy with your pb why risk it? They may get a long but they may not. They are both so delicate that you might end up losing both.

Perfect chemical values. All other fishes, except the Powder Blue Tangs, have survived in my 600-gal tank.
If anyone kept the powder blue for more than 4 years, that person(s) - MASTER (s)

I would very much agree with this. I got my Powder Blue first and then introduced a Hippo later on and the powder almost killed it.
I have found with any fish, if you introduce them together they will be ok (I have done this with all my big Angels and they are buddies)

I was scrolling down your thread and was about to ask the same question. Re: You original question:IMO, this is a question with no absolute answer. Different fish of the same species can have completely different quirks. Both fish are difficult; but the only way you can tell if it'll work is to try it. You're doing your homework, have a rescue plan, and if it doesn't work- be ready to accept the loss. The odds may be against you, but it is your tank, your $, and your decision. Sometimes I have to be reminded that we're dealing with fish...pretty ones at that, but still fish. If one of them dies, is that really much different than my throwing out the flounder I burned on the grill last night?

anything short of a public aquarium will not be able to keep an achilles alive.

Please read what our host, SWF.com has to say about them: "They will do very well in the proper environment. They are voracious algae eaters." "moderate care level". Another seller says "expert aquarist"--and both guarantee their fish for at least 2 weeks. They are not for everyone; but not impossible.

most of these achilles tangs will live longer than two weeks, but long-term success is not likely in any tank short of severel hundred gallons.
