Acquiring Live Rock

Hey all!
I am putting together a proposal for our 400 gallon tank and I would like some input as far as acquiring live rock. I have searched/read a lot of posts regarding this. Some posts are old and I figured it cant hurt to ask.
Naturally, I want high QUALITY, CURED live rock; probably several different types. Now, I know this site has Live Rock, but since I am looking at getting 300-400 lbs of the stuff, I need to research this very thoroughly!!
If anyone could email or private message me with any input/recommendations, that would be awesome!!
Thanks in advance.

For an amount that large of live rock my best suggestion is to get some base rock as well. Base rock is much, much cheaper than live rock and can have just as interesting shapes as the live stuff. Also, because corraline algae needs light to survive, some of the live rock will lose its color; why spend the money on it if it will lose the look? Put base rock where you won't see it and add good, quality live rock on top. That should save you some money.
I wouldn't bother with cured live rock much, especially if you are going to cycle your tank with it. If you are cycling with rock, use uncured. It is cheaper and helps your tank cycle faster.
As to where, I'd get some from here. The prices are pretty good and you get free shipping. I'd also look in the paper and near some electronic auctions...

Try a company called seareefmarine.com or ---- I have gotten some great rock for about3.50 to 4.00 lb and that includes shipping. Good luck.

If you want 300 to 400lbs I would go 1/3 live rock and 1/3 base rock and 1/3 lace rock. It would cost 10X less and would get you a good start in coralline algea and bacteria. Or go 1/3 live rock and 2/3 base rock to save even more.
