Hi guys! If I get a metal halide fixture rigged above my BioCube, and but an acrylic lid on top to help with evaporation, will that reduce the efficiency of the halide setup? Thanks!

Not only will it melt, but hinder the gas exchange necessary to put oxygen in the water. Take the top off. Think green house effect, you will cook your critters.
Evaporation is a good thing, it puts clean water into your system.
No lid is the better option. I put a hood on my sump to keep the dogs out of the water...they love to play in water. The main tank is open topped. On my 90g I have a canopy, I like the look so I removed the hinged cover, and hung my lights. That way I kept the look but the tank is still open.
no. you dont want to put any kind of restrictive lid glass or acrylic over your tank. if you're trying to combat evaporation, get yourself an Auto Top Off system. this will replace any lost water with new fresh water.
