Acrylic tank question

My friend and I went to the lfs today and were asking them questions about acrylic tanks. They said not to get one. Well I knew they would as they are an All Glass dealer. Anyway They said they get stress fractures all the time. Is this true? If so how often and is there anything you can do to prevent this from happening?
PS I know all the downfalls of acrylic so I don't need them repeated to me I just want to know about stress fractures.

ya they scratch easy and haahah (joking)
i never heard of one stress cracking... even ones that have a slight unlevelness

Stress fractures only occur when cheap acrylic is used my tank has a lifetime warranty against stress cracks UV does dont effect it, its takes a little extra care because it does scratch easier, but can be buffed out, glass can not, acrylic is good as long as you get a quality product
