Activated Carbon?

I was thinking about adding activated carbon to my filtration as an added benefit to both my tanks. With that being said, I use Vitamins and supplements on both tanks. Will the carbon remove those supplements from the water?

im not sure. i herd that it will remove the trace elements but im not completly sure on that one either. anyone know if this is truueee?

forget about carbon use seachem's purigen, it is the best, pulls the bad stuff out and leaves the trace elements behind, i am sure that you LFS has it in stock. It is also reuseable, which is awesome.

I could not agree more PowderBlu! I currently use Purigen, it does an awesome job of keeping my nitrates low! I was thinking about activated carbon to give the water that "extra clean look".

Nothing wrong with using carbon, but it will pull out any liquid form of additives. If used, which I have for years, only use for short periods of time to clear water. Most research says that carbon clogs after no more than 10 days. I have used it for 2-3 days, then remove. A little will go a long way. While using it just do water changes, if needed, no additives.
I have used chemi pure also and like the way it also makes the water crystal clear with longer runs of it.
