When my tank was running with livestock I would max adding my alk to 125-150ML per day....but now that all I have is LR in there with a feather duster is it ok to add the recommended does of say 300ML??

Do a test for Alk...if you need to bring it up, then dose your tank to get it up to proper levels....never just dose the tank.

No, no, no....I must have confused the post. I always test!! Never add anything to my tank without testing, except for my daily maintenance dose.
I'm saying if my ALK is say a 6 dkh and I want it a 10....I'm going to need to add 570ML 2-part to get that up. Usually I only dose about 125-150ML when I need to raise the ALK while there is livestock in the tank as I don't want the PH to go too crazy....but since all I have is LR and a feather duster is it ok to dose 570ML at one time??

LOL...okay
well it won't hurt the rock but I don't know for sure about such a sudden change on a feather duster, they are pretty tough, but to be honest I would treat it like it was a single fish in the tank and take my time. Why take any chance, it is a living critter.

Just since my whole disaster...I can't wait to get all of my poor fish out of this small, disaster of a 55.

Then remove the rock the feather duster is on to the 55 and dose away...The critters in the rock will be fine.

The rock and the bacteria will be fine but Since the feather duster is there I would try and raise it 1 point a day.

No... This is way off and an easy way to cause HUGE problems..
You cant just dose away at stuff like that... The maximum I have EVEN seen that said was safe to raise in one day was AT MOST 1.4dKh...

Even if there are no fish, corals or inverts in the tank?? Except the feather duster of course.

Think of it this way.. The ionic balance in the tank is like a teeter-totter that is sitting perfectly level...
Changing small amounts will cause one side to go up/down slowly and will rebalance itself for the most part... Now Imagine a teeter-totter thats level and then throw a 100lb weight on it.. Imagine what happens to the poor kid on the other end.. He is going to the moon..
Drastic changes will upset it alot and will through another level off somewhere else.. and then you have another battle on your hands..
If there is nothing in there than I dont see what the rush is..

To the moon and then some
Rush is all my fish and corals are jam packed in a 55. The 55 is grren with algae all over the glass since I have barely any filtration.....I have 2 other threads on here...one regarding my tank cracking and the other my rebuild.
I'll probably just add the 2-part like I usually do. Just figured I
d throw the question out there.
