Well I went from a 55 gal. to 75 gal. yesterday.
Added 30 lbs. of Aragonite sand on the bottom with LS on top of it. I thought I rinsed it good, but I guess not. If that's why it cloudy.
Well it clear up? If so how good does it take?
I hoping this won't harm the guys in the tank.
Can I do anything or just wait it out?????
Thanks

This is natural and it will clear if you wait patiently. They shouldn't be harmed unless you did something serious to dismantle your substrate and release major bacteria that should be sleeping under there. Next time you should use a tube or siphon the new sand to your existing sand so that it won't spew everywhere. :D

IF you've got an old powerfilter around you can hang it on and run, cleaning the filter media often. That may speed things up a little ... but as others have already said ... just wait and it will clear.
Patience is one of the hardest things have sometimes.

I rinse the sand, added it to the 75 gal. I got a plastic dustpan and took it out of the 55, draining the excess water off.
Then added water,& LR.
I have been cleaning the filters and my protien skimmer couple times a day.
The tank looks better this afternoon. The only bad thing was that it was so cloudy yesterday that I had a hard time placing my corals on the rocks, had to go back this morning and try again.
Can't find my Yellow Watchman. And my turned a dark pink.
When did you do yours? And how?
I guess it takes time.
Hang in there!! And that's hard.
GOOD LUCK!

Mr. Salty is recommending a polishing flter. I'll have to check it out.
BTW, How dry are you down there? you get flooded? We got some of the spin-off and they were nasty storms.

Looks like up North and East have more into it. It must do better, maybe longer winters or something. How about Tulsa??

i got some cheap white filter material, it looks like poly-fill stuffing. I stuffed in as much as I could into my emporer 400. it made my water splarkle in 4 hrs. cost less than 3 bucks too.
How's yours doing?

Mine is almost there. I think by the time I get off work today it should be good as new.
It takes time.
Did all your fish do ok, going though it?
Thanks everybody for the help......

I generally run a piece of foam in my sump, it makes an excellent filter media and you can wash it out, just go to your local hobby store. Be sure to rinse it out before adding it to your sump.
BTW, Orange is about 20 miles East of Beaumont :)
