Adding a refugium... Will I cycle again?

Hello guys,
Currently I am in the process of building 2 refugiums. One for a new tank which is fine, and the other which I want to add to an existing tank. The tank I wish to add it to is my 90 reef... It's more of a community tank with the exception of some shrooms. I am building a 20 gallon sump/fuge for this tank and can add some live rock and chaeto with no worries of this addition but if I add a dsb of 3-4" do I risk starting a cycle in the tank? If so what other options am I faced with you would reccomend please.
thanks,
Nick
