the best way to ensure you get the right sized baffel is to precut a piece of wood/ carboard the exact width you want it (start long) then trim it to fit perfectly. then take the mock baffel to the glass shop.

hey thats fine, if your not going for looks, I just put my views on it and explained why I like clean looking silicone lines, as for who cares. Obviously I do or I wouldnt have said I like clean looking lines. I never implied it was difficult to goop silicone on in large amounts, not once. I just stated that do the job with thin applications of silicone it wont work it doesnt bond properly. I did conceed that if you put plenty on there the bond with the glass will be probably be sufficient as the pressure makes the silicone like a rubber washer. I fail to see the conflict here.
I'm not trying to get into a pissing contest as you seem to. I've stated what to do to make it work and as I've said it is just a FUGE, not a DISPLAY TANK. It is supposed to take out nitrates and phosphates and grow pods. If you want people to see perfect bonds in a fuge that is tucked under a DT out of sight-don't take my advice. Why you would honestly care if a fuge looks perfect is beyond my reasoning. Especially when it will just become covered in coralline anyways. Those who have failed, did not use enough silicone...It's not difficult to do. If you can't manage do that, then use Weld-on 1001.

I used to have acrylic baffles. They didn't hold and now I use glass. That's my story. :)
Glass isn't much more expensive than acrylic either, especially for something as small as a few baffles.
