adding another fish to hypo

I’m going to add another fish into my qt undergoing hypo I am assuming the 48 hour needed to lower the salinity is for the fish to acclimate its self to the lower salinity so I am going to keep the new fish ( a small six line ) in a two gallon tub feed lightly and do a water change every 6hrs to keep the ammonia level down any one with a better idea

You're in a tough spot. Why did you get a new fish when you didn't have a place to put him??
I can't speak from personal experience about your suggestion. I would use a larger container, make sure to have a heater and powerhead, and buy a cheap power filter. May be a lot, but it'll save the fish. If you don't have a bottle of Amqel for the QT, you should get one quickly.

You can do that. He isn't going to eat so I wouldn't bother unless it is a tiny, TINY amount just to see. Use a powerhead and a heater and keep an eye on the water qualiy. Lower the SG over 48hrs then drip aclimate him. Watch the PH.

Thanks Sir Q I think I am going to use a ten gallon (to give me more volume) tank, take ten g from my DT I have a small hang on filter I will seed with some blue and white filter material from my DT and start lowering the salinity

Just an FYI use a power head in your QT too. I Had to hypo all my fish from my DT 5 weeks ago. I had 2 true percs, 1 purple FF, a royal gramma and a tiny neon goby. I did exactly as you did, took 6 gals from my DT added it to my QT, hang on filter and heater. I took 48 hours to add the remaining 4 gals of fresh RO Water to get my salinity in Hypo. Unfortunatly one perc never made it past the transition. Then 3 weeks later I come home to 2 more fish dead and one on its way. I have been doing every other day water changes of 1 gal to help with the massive bio load on the 10 gal tank. Buffering the water letting it circulate for days so its stable. All my levels checked out and then I realized I didnt have a power head in the tank. It may not of been the whole cause but after I added it my royal gramma seemed to respond, look and act better.

thanks friend i have good water flow with my hang on but i am going to drop in a small power head anyway i do not think the added flow can hurt (sorry about your loss of fish)
