Adding Aragamax oolite

When adding the oolite sand for a new setup should I rinse it. I rinsed mine, but it still seems like the slightest agitation causes huge clouds to occur. Will this settle down in time? Anyone else experience this??

I used oolite in my set up. The sand used to cloud up at the slightest movment at first but it seems after the sand settles a few days it tends to happen less often. It only happens now if a fish gets spooked and really books across the bottom. A little sand will be kicked up but this is to be expexted. HTH
How long has your tank been set up?

Thanks ff..Just setting up 90g FOLRLS to start..I want to go with about a 3-4 inch sand bed. Do you have a DSB?? Any advice is appreciated... Is your LR just directly on top of yoursand?? -Bait

I, too, used the oolite sand and it did the same. But I did not rinse the sand first. Don't rinse the sand! I just added to the tank. I have a 5" sand bed and for the first few days, any disturbance would cause cloudiness. I placed my LR directly on the sand. No problems. HTH--Bob
