adding base rock to established system

I am re-aquascaping my 75 gallon tank. I am adding 30lbs additional sand to the current 30lbs already in the tank. While everything is out, I also plan on adding additional base rock and securing things better to make a more permanent structure. I currently have an urchin that knocks things down frequently! I have 60lbs of dryed figi rock I have had stored in an open container for about 2 years. I scrubbed the pieces down last night and also boiled them becuase they smelled musty. I boiled each piece for 10-15minutes. Cooled them on the counter and then rinsed with cold water. Ideally I would like to add these into the system which is established. I currently have about 75+lbs already in the system established for over 4 years. Is this ok to do or is it too risky? Tank is a reef set up. Thanks.

One suggestion, add some egg creat under the sand, this will protect the glass from falling rock if it happens again
